Humanitarian Expeditions

We have partnered with hospitals and clinics at several sites throughout the world.  Our main partners are located in Guatemala, Liberia and Uganda.

Our goal is to provide high-quality healthcare to patients abroad with evidence-based practices in rural and urban international settings.  We are not providing a medical tourism experience. Instead, we will provide continuous staffing, donations, and financial assistance to these sites during our curriculum, and mutual teaching, learning, and understanding — ensuring longevity of our relationships.

You will learn the intricacies of global health, the hurdles to healthcare, the problems of sanitation, the difficulties of funding, the ingenuity and problem-solving that comes from necessity, and the resilience of the human spirit. Your time serving communities abroad will be life-changing.

UGANDA

Mikono HOSPITAL

Located in rural Uganda, this hospital serves a community marked by subsistence farming, lack of education, and diseases of poverty. Mikono Hospital provides inpatient care, including neonatology, surgery and obstetrics. The clinic also provides services for nutrition, eye, dentistry, TB, HIV and antenatal care. Mikono sponsors a community health initiative for immunization, public education, malaria prevention, water development and improved nutrition. The hospital also trains staff through their own nursing and laboratory school.

Four full-time physicians make up the medical staff and are supported by many volunteer physicians who travel to Mikono each year. We strive to enhance their efforts by working with, training and reaching out to their providers and communities.
